As neighborhoods grow and infrastructure ages, municipalities face the challenge of upgrading essential systems without disrupting service or exceeding budgets. In Ashland, Oregon, Romtec Utilities was selected to retrofit a wastewater lift station to meet rising flow demands.
Overview
This project involved the replacement of a concrete wet well and pump system in a residential area. Romtec Utilities designed and supplied a fully integrated retrofit solution capable of handling 156 GPM at 55.7 feet TDH, while maintaining compatibility with the city's existing SCADA and electrical controls.

Challenge: Upgrading parts of a system that no longer support the neighborhood
The original lift station was no longer sufficient for the neighborhood's increased wastewater flow. The City of Ashland needed a solution that would upgrade the mechanical and structural components while retaining existing electrical infrastructure. The retrofit had to be efficient, cost-effective, and minimally disruptive.
Solution: A custom-engineered Romtec Utilities design
Romtec Utilities provided:
The new system was designed to meet the city's standards and installed by Ledford Construction after a public bid process. Romtec's team ensured seamless integration of new components with the retained electrical systems.
Why Romtec Utilities was chosen
Romtec Utilities originally quoted the project in 2008, but economic conditions delayed its execution. When the city revisited the project, they opted for a retrofit ad consulted Romtec Utilities' engineers during a site visit. The engineering firm, Marques & Associates, specified Romtec Utilities for their ability to meet the city's design and integration needs. Romtec Utilities' reputation for solutions and collaborative engineering made them the clear choice.
