Romtec Utilities is well suited to support Maine communities facing aging infrastructure, increasing storm intensity, and strict environmental standards. Specializing in custom, turnkey pumping systems for all water types, Romtec Utilities integrates structural, mechanical, electrical, and communications engineering into a pumping solution that fits the needs of all parties involved.
Romtec Utilities partnered with engineers, contractors, and developers to deliver a high-capacity stormwater pumping system for Hampton Park, a $250 million mixed-use development in Capitol Heights, Maryland. The project transformed a long-vacant retail site into a pedestrian-friendly destination.
Overview
Hampton Park, formerly known as Hampton Mall, was a 25-acre site that was being redeveloped into a mixed-use community with housing, retail space, hospitality, and public services. To support the scale and density of the redevelopment, a stormwater pump station was required to manage runoff, mitigate flood risk, and protect public safety throughout the site.
The project was a joint venture between Velocity Companies and ARCTrust, with Soletz LLC serving as the site engineer. Romtec Utilities was selected to design and manufacture a pumping system tailored to the site's specific drainage demands.
Key system features
Challenge: Designing a System That Can Handle it All
Hampton Park combines commercial, residential, and green space elements in a dense, urban site. The stormwater system needed to handle intense rainfall events while protecting parking areas, buildings, and public spaces - all within a small footprint, and in compliance with municipal and environmental standard.
Solution: A Complete Pre-Packaged Stormwater Pump Station by Romtec Utilities
Romtec Utilities designed and manufactured a site-specific stormwater pump station capable of managing extreme runoff conditions with built-in redundancy and durable components. The system was engineered to integrate seamlessly into the development, providing reliable flood protection while supporting long-term operation and maintenance needs.
